Contest Requirements

Any early-stage company that is less than 2 years old, with less than $250k USD in funding is invited to apply to the Founder Showcase Pitch Competition.

You will need to submit a video for entry. Don't freak out - this is a seed-stage startup competition, so non-professionally produced videos work just fine (ex. webcam of you talking, or a video of you pitching your company elsewhere). There are no tight requirements on the video, but the best format is 3 - 5 minutes, covering the following topics;

  1. What does your company do, and what need does it serve?
  2. Describe the market where you will compete.
  3. What makes you unique compared to your competition? In other words, what is your secret sauce?
  4. Where are you in your growth plans?
  5. Who are you/ your team?
  6. SHOW PRODUCT!

Online public voting that takes place prior to the voting deadline of 11:59pm PST on Sunday, October 14th, 2012 will play a major, but not sole, part in deciding the top 20 companies who advance to the Quarterfinal Round of the Competition. We take pride in showing the most promising seed-stage technology companies at the Founder Showcase, so we reserve a level of internal judgement. In the end, we are choosing companies that we think have the best chance for success on stage at our event.

These Quarterfinalists will be privately notified on Monday evening, October 15th. Over the following two weeks, the Quarterfinalists will undergo further evaluation and be narrowed down to 15 Semifinalists, and then the 8 Finalists who are invited to attend and pitch at the event for free. All Semifinalists receive free tickets to the event as consolation.
